Apple iPhone may finally get dual-SIM support this year

It's no secret that Apple may be planning to introduce three new iPhone models later this year. The company, as usual, never reveals what it has up its sleeves for customers, but thanks to some industry analysts, we at least have some idea of what’s about to come. One of the popular analysts, Ming-Chi Kuo has released some more information about one of the upcoming Apple iPhone handsets. Obtained by 9to5Mac, the note talks about the rumoured 6.1-inch iPhone model.

It has been explained that the 6.1-inch model could feature a LCD display and might be available in two variants, one that comes with regular single SIM card support and the second with dual-SIM dual standby support.

Also mentioned is that the dual SIM card support could be coming to the 6.5-inch model as well while the 5.8-inch OLED iPhone X successor will stay with single SIM support.

Kuo says that the arrival of the dual-SIM supporting iPhone could introduce a completely new price segment for the smartphone series. As per the predictions, the single SIM Apple iPhone may cost between $550 and $650, which the dual-SIM version of the 6.1-inch LCD model may be priced anywhere between $650 and $750. In addition, Kuo thinks the dual SIM model is likely to increase iPhone’s market share in countries like China.

As for the sales, Apple is expected to sell around 100-120 million units of the upcoming 6.1-inch LCD iPhone. These figures are from Q3 of this year to Q3 2019.
Recently, analysts from UBS said the price of the upcoming iPhone X 2018 model will be more than the current generation handset. the price of the 2018 iPhone X smartphone could hit $1100 mark, which roughly converts to Rs 72,100. This, of course, is a prediction and not an actual price. However, if the mentioned amount is anything to go by, expect Apple to launch the 2018 iPhone X in India at over Rs 80,000 for the base model.
