NEW DELHI: Google launched its first smartphones Pixel and Pixel XL in
2016. However, the company has now removed both the smartphones from its
online store. This indicates the company has discontinued the
smartphones and they are no longer available for purchase directly from
the company. However, in case you still want to purchase the Google
Pixel or the Pixel XL then you can go Flipkart, Amazon and other offline
retailers.
The Google Pixel and Pixel XL are still worth the money as both the devices offer high-end specifications, fast processor and will also get Android P update.
The company has removed the devices as it will be launching its next generation Pixel 3 and Pixel 3XL smartphones this year.
To recall, Google Pixel XL comes with a 5.5-inch QHD display with 1440x2560 pixel resolution. The display is protected with a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The company equipped with Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor placed on the rear panel. The handset is powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 processor coupled with 4GB of RAM. The smartphones comes in two storage variants -- 32GB and 128GB and the users cannot expand the memory.
The Pixel XL sports an 8MP front shooter powered by Sony IMX179 sensor and a 12.3MP rear camera with with Sony IMX378 sensor, f/2.0 aperture, and a larger 1.55um lens allowing the camera to capture more light. It also includes features like Smartburst and Lens Blur.
The smartphone comes with all the essential connectivity options and is backed by a 3,450 mAh battery.
On the other hand, the Google Pixel features a 5-inch full HD (1080x1920 pixels) resolution AMOLED display and is backed by a 2770mAh battery with fast charging technology. Rest of the specifications remain the same as the Pixel XL.
Both the smartphones came with Android Nougat and later received Android Oreo update. The company will also roll out Android P update for the devices.
