Opera is shutting down this service for Android and iOS on April 30

NEW DELHI: Internet browser Opera had launched its free VPN app in 2016 for both Android and iOS operating systems. The company has now revealed that it is shutting down the app on April 30. Recently, Opera shut down its data saving app Opera Max, which was acquired by Samsung.

The desktop version of the app comes with a built-in feature and the company has disabled that as well. The company also said, that all the Opera Gold subscribers will have the option to redeem a one year subscription for free to SurfEasy Ultra VPN. This will enable users to access unlimited usage on five devices in 28 regions.

In an official blog post the company said, “This is a free upgrade for Opera Gold users, as SurfEasy Ultra offers unlimited usage on up to five devices, access to 28 regions and a strict no-log policy. SurfEasy is also available on more platforms, currently supporting Windows, Mac, iOS, Android and Amazon devices. Users will be able to enjoy world-class customer support, too. Opera Gold users will be able to migrate within the latest version of the Opera VPN iOS app.”

The company also added that the Opera Gold users will also be able to migrate to the latest version of the Opera VPN iOS app. Opera is also giving discount of 80% on SurfEasy Total VPN for the users who cannot access the latest version of the Opera VPN iOS and Android apps.

The total cost of SurfEasy is $4.99 /month or $3.99 /month in case the users decide to pay it annually.

Samsung acquired the data saving app Opera Max in February this year. The app supports the latest iteration of Samsung’s unique and easy-to-use features, ‘Data Saving Mode’ and ‘Privacy Protection.’ Samsung Max is replacing Opera Max – one of the largest mobile virtual private networks (VPNs) in the world – and now, its two key features are accessible to millions of more Samsung users
