Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1 launched in India: Specifications, availability, price and more

As promised, Taiwanese smartphone maker Asus has launched a new smartphone, the Asus Zenfone Max Pro, as part of its partnership announced with e-commerce portal Flipkart. India is among the first few countries to get the handset today. Touted as the competition to the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, the handset shares a few specs -- including display and the processor -- with it.

Price and availability of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1The Asus Zenfone Max Pro smartphone comes at a starting price of Rs 10,999. The company has priced the 3GB RAM and 4GB RAM version at Rs 10,999 and Rs 12,999 respectively. Going by the price the smartphone will compete against the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro, Honor 7X and the Honor 9i. The handset will be available starting May 3 exclusively on Flipkart. The domestic e-commerce major is offering a all things covered warranty for the device at Rs 49. Colour options of the device include Meteor Sliver and Deepsea Black.

There are also data plan offers from telecom operator Vodafone worth up to Rs 3,200. There is an extra Rs 1,000 off on exchange values and a no cost EMI up to 12 months on all credit cards and Bajaj Finserv Ltd.

At today's launch, Asus also announced that it will soon launch a new model as part of this series. This model will feature 6GB RAM, 64GB internal storage and 16MP+5MP rear camera setup at Rs 14,999.

Specifications of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro M1One of the key highlights of the Asus Zenfone Max Pro is that it is the first Asus smartphone to ditch the Zenfone UI and opt for the stock Android operating system. It runs Android 8.1 Oreo out-of-the-box.

Another talking point of the device is the whopping 5,000mAh battery that is claimed to deliver up to 199 hours of music playback, up to 34.1 days of 4G stand-by and up to 25.3 hours 1080p video playback.


The handset features a 5.99-inch full HD+ display with 1080x2160 pixel resolution and 18:9 aspect ratio. The Zenfone Max Pro boasts of a 5-magnet speaker with NXP smart amplifier that is said to ensure that the speaker quality is not compromised due to over- or under-charging of device. The device packs in an accessory called Max box that is said to amplify the sound from the device up to 2 times.

The Asus Zenfone Pro is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 636 processor, same as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 Pro. As mentioned above, the smartphone comes in two variants, 3GB RAM and 32GB storage and 4GB RAM and 64GB storage. There is a microSD card support of up to 2GB.

For imaging duties, the Zenfone Max Pro comes with a dual rear camera setup. The smartphone sports 13MP and 5MP sensors at the rear end with LED flash. The 13MP primary camera has aperture f/2.2 with 1.12 micron. The front of the device houses an 8MP selfie camera with LED flash with Snapdragon camera app interface, another feature another first feature for Asus.

With a triple sim-card tray (2 sim slots and a microSD card) The smartphone offers 4G, VoLTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS as connectivity options.
