NEW DELHI: Apple launched the iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus smartphones
last year in September. It seems that now the company is also set to
introduce the RED variant of the smartphones.
According to MacRumors, a Virgin Mobile memo reveals, (Product) Red versions of the 8 and 8 Plus will be announced soon, probably this week. However, if you were waiting for the RED iPhone X, then you will be disappointed as the no news of the same.
Founded in 2006, Product RED works in combating HIV/AIDS in eight African countries: Ghana, Kenya, Lesotho, Rwanda, South Africa, Swaziland, Tanzania and Zambia. Last year also Apple resealed a number of special RED edition products including the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus.
To recall, the company launched the iPhone 8 and the iPhone 8 Plus along with the anniversary edition iPhone X. The Apple iPhone 8 sports a 4.7-inch Retina screen, while the bigger variant comes with 5.5-inch Retina screen. The device are powered by the company’s own latest 10nm A11 Bionic chipset with a 6-core processor. It is claimed to be 25% faster than the A10, which powers the iPhone 7 and the iPhone 7 Plus smartphones.
The duo support wireless charging and comes in Silver, Space Grey and Gold variants. The smartphones come in only two storage variants of 64GB and 256GB.

The company claims that both the
smartphones come with enhanced camera software which allow users to
capture better portrait shots. The iPhone 8 features a single 12MP rear
camera, while the iPhone 8 Plus boasts of dual rear camera with two 12MP
modules. The new cameras are calibrated for augmented reality and come
with accurate motion tracking tech. The iPhone 8 Plus comes with a new
dual-camera feature called "Portrait Lighting". The feature senses depth
in the image and adjusts the lighting on the face of the subject
accordingly. The primary rear camera has f/1.8 aperture while the
secondary telephoto camera comes with f/2.8 aperture.
